Advanced Cross Ice Mites

The Advanced Cross Ice Mites Program (ACIM) is for players under 8 years old that have solid skating skills and are ready for more advanced skating and hockey skills.  The ACIM program will focus on skating skills, stick handling, passing, shooting and small area (cross-ice) game play.  TAHA Director of Player Development, Walt Peretti oversees the 20-week program.  The 2 weekday sessions will be skills based, one coached by Walt and the other by Dave Randall. The Saturday session will be cross-ice game play.  The ACIM program will be run out of 2 rinks this season (Frear Park and Albany County Hockey Facility), and the cost for the program is $500.  Sessions will be held:

OPTION 1:

  • Monday - 5:30pm-6:30pm at Frear Park 
  • Wednesday - 5:00pm-6:00pm at ACHF
  • Saturday - Games 8:00am at ACHF

OPTION 2:

  • Thursday - 5:50pm-6:50pm at ACHF
  • Wednesday - 5:00pm-6:00pm at ACHF 
  • Saturday - Games 8:00am at ACHF

Necessary equipment needed for this program:  skates, helmet with a face shield (no bike helmets), hockey pants, hockey gloves, shin guards, elbow pads, shoulder pads, hockey stick. 

Registration

All players must register with USA Hockey in order to register for ACIM with TAHA.  Please go to www.usahockey.com to register for the 2017-2018 season and obtain a confirmation number.  *Note, USA Hockey does not charge the registration fee to players under the age of 6.

Parents are welcome and encouraged to help out on the ice with this program.  In order to assist on the ice, parents must follow these steps:

  1. Register with USA Hockey as a coach (www.usahockey.com) and obtain a confirmation number
  2. Register with TAHA through Sports Sign Up as an assistant coach
  3. Obtain a Safe Sport Certification through USA Hockey online - CLICK HERE 
  4. Complete a Background Screen through NYSAHA - CLICK HERE  

*Note, USA Hockey requires that everyone on the ice wear a helmet, coaches do not need a face shield on their helmet.

Ice Cats vs China

The Chinese National Team came West to face off against our U19, U16, and a mixed Ice Cat Team for some international competition.

Some very good hockey and great representation by both Nations.
